Is this for business or pleasure and are you looking for something stylish or not?

For practical means, I still use my bean duffle bag unless it is a business trip and something more professional is called for. It still has held up the best out of all of the bags I've had though.

i'd like these to be as versatile as possible. i'd use them on flights but if possible, will also use them for the gym and carrying things to work (i'm a chef)

I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but check out Filson's offerings. Their actual duffles come in three sizes and there's a couple of others that would probably interest you as well including the Travel Bag,Pullman and maybe the large Carry-on.

edit: you might want to look at Orvis, too. They made (make? ) a bag with a zippered bottom pocket that would be perfect for carrying shoes or chef gear. My Filson outfitter bag also has this feature and I love it.

i checked out filson's and that's pretty much what i'm looking for. now i'm just debating whether which i should select, the small duffle or medium.

on 2nd thought, the filson duffle looks so military and too rugged. i might've made a mistake in using the word duffle when i should be looking for a weekender.

When you said weekender I thought of the Monocle x Porter collaboration. Moncle has a bunch of bags on their website (monocle.com? ) made by Porter, all in an olive green. Don't worry though, the only thing military about these is the color. Super nice looking and not outrageously spendy IMO. If I wasn't a Filson whore I might get one for myself. I might anyway.
