is throwing a pair of dry denim into the dryer after a wash a big no-no?

in the years past i've been doing this with my levis XX jeans...doesnt *seem* to have any negative impact but i'm wondering what the *correct* drying method is. i remember someone saying you should always hang dry them...?

Yea.. the fabric gets kind of spongey and hairy if you throw them in the dryer, not to mention you get semi-permanent creases on the legs. I always wash my jeans inside-out, and hang dry them inside-out to get the best possible end result.

i never tumble dry unless i need to shrink something.. from which ive only had minor success.

i wash only when they are dirty and lay flat to try. i also let them 'air out' after i wear them..
