1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Anybody else drinking before the holiday party today? It's somewhat of a tradition around here.

And, of course, by "tradition" I mean "Ken's heavily guarded secret."

If I had one of those pesky "jobs," I imagine I'd have a bourbon (or six) during lunch break.

I used to drink in class in law school a good bit on Thursday nights. I went at nights, while working a pretty stressful job, so I was always ready to get an early start on the weekend.

I've come to work still a little drunk from the night before, but have never actually imbibed at work, except when lobbying, when I was a busboy, and an occasionally beer with lunch on Fridays.

Well, whats wrong with having a little Christmas cheer during the day? It would seem almost anti-social not to partake in a social lubricant....

The last few jobs I've had encouraged and expected that we'd be drinking at holiday parties. No, that we'd be tanked.

One job actually expected us to be drinking while working. I still remember the days that my boss checked that I had a six-pack with me before I started my shift. Mmm...

Yes, a few times, but mostly with full knowledge and consent of the boss.

We all did booze "Dirty Santa" where you swap and steal and whatever; but, I don't think we'll get to crack it open...and they're making us wait until 4 to do it anyways.

So what excuse do you have now?

I used to work at a company that had "Beer Fridays" where the beers came out at noon. I think they stopped those because of liability issues... Everyone drove to work.

Sometimes I wish we did that, but then I'd really worry about what sort of personalities might be unveiled.

One firm rolled a keg into the dining room once a month to celebrate everyone who had a birthday that month. Then everyone adjourned to their favorite watering hole or dive. Even then I wondered about the liability they were taking on, since some folks got sloshed right there in the company dining room.

Maybe it was a team-building exercise - protect and cover for your drunk colleagues.

I saw the title and thought this would be a bartending thread.
