Weed, ex, and far too much alcohol, which I will never give up.
Only did ecstasy once, when I was younger. Smoked weed for about a year, but haven't done anything since I started high school. Also never drank until I turned 21, but I'm making up for lost time.

I think overprescription of Oxycontin is a huge contributor to the rise in heroin use.

Before Oxycontin, not many people made the jump to heroin. But nowadays, they go from Percocet, Vicodin, etc, to Oxycontin. Then they realize that the street cost of Oxycontin is high compared to a comparable dose of Heroin, then next thing you know, you doing heroin. Then, you're fucked.

I call it the opiate ladder.

Opiates: never.
Valium, quaalude and other prescript downers, a few dozen time.
Speed and other uppers, just a few times.
LSD, peyote, mescaline several hundred times.
Coke, a few times.
Weed, hash: probably a life-long endeavor.

Lots of experienced drug users have suffered unfortunate deaths from speedballs. The coke and heroin are supposed to keep each other from killing you, but if the amounts aren't calculated right one wears out before the other it hits you unexpectedly.

As for me, none ever.

Opposite direction for me. After surgery on a torn Achilles heel--I was on Oxy for a month then Percocet the next month then Lortab for the last month. Those were a good 3 months

I was on Percocet during recovery after a surgery. After a few nights of nightmares, I was put on something else. I couldn't handle the Percocet.

I had to take benadryl with the opiates. My skin itched and I constantly saw spiders running across the floor that were not there. Luckily, I had no nightmares that I remember!! A friend who tore his Achilles dreamed that he killed his wife and child. It really messed with him.
