Due to a weird set of circumstances, later this week I'll be driving from NY to Houston to stay for a few months. I've never done a drive of this length before, so I'm a bit nervous. Other than a long playlist and a pillow for lumbar support, is there anything I should consider for the drive to make it easier? Also, I'm planning on doing the drive from Thursday to Sunday night/very early Monday, so I won't have much time to stop places, but can anyone recommend places to stop along the way, mostly for food (BBQ?)? I definitely have to stop in Baltimore and Lexington to visit friends, and I'll be passing through Memphis, Nashville and Little Rock as well. Thanks everyone.

I've driven thousands of kilometers in very little days several times before and one thing I can't recommend to you enough is to take time for breaks.
Taking 15 min brakes to grab something to eat and drink and also to walk a few meters will both make you feel better and be more observant on the street.
A crash will definitely cost you more time and maybe even your life.

    Wish you a safe journey.

Thanks, I'll definitely be taking breaks, and I'm driving down with someone else who has done drives like this before and will drive for at least some of the way.

Also, new question, since I'll be in Kentucky, does anyone know a store that I'd be able to find Pappy van Winkle at in Lexington, or is it still impossible to find there?
