What do you do to ensure that you are drinking decent quality water?

- Bottled water only? What brands?
- Filtration system?
- Distilling your water?

I've been drinking bottled water forever, but I realize that the quality of most bottled water is ****, in some cases not much better than tap. I'd be interested to hear what people are doing about their water supply.

My water at work is filtered through one of these things:

At home I just drink good 'ole NYC tap water. What doesn't kill you, etc etc.

Get glass
Turn tap to "on"
Fill glass
Turn tap to "off"

Bottled water is a crock, most of the time it's just tap water plus shipping and CO2 emissions (and markup), so just get a filter and a nylon nalgene or a stainless or a glass waterbottle and fillerup.

This.

A lot of bottled water is significantly worse than tap when they do studies to look at what is in it.

I second this. I remember hearing that most bottled water has more fecal matter than the average North American city's tap water. I personally think that if you pay $2 for a bottle of the second most readily available resource on the planet, you're an idiot. Given the size of the bottled water industry, it's good to see that most North Americans are dumber than a marsupialed animal-- at least they know what's good for them.

my water is from lake michigan, so I have no qualms about what comes out of the tap.

if I was else where I would probably stick to bottled water or at least run it through a few stages of my water purifier (water can be too purified to drink, I have a fancy system for my fish tank)
