I highly recommend that you take advantage of @mementomoriarty 's proxy. Simons' markdowns are the best prices I've seen for high end stuff. I think I've bought at least two Dries pieces from their markdowns each year for insanely low prices. Too bad they were out of smaller sizes.

This doesn't top AW16 for me, but I really really enjoyed this show much more than FW17 and SS18. Really lovely use of mixed-paint motifs, and the embroidery was really nice. This season is definitely classic Dries. The pyjama shirt really stood out to me, and I'll definitely be looking to pick that one up.

Whoa, late 60s/early 70s far out. acqueous marble prints, mixed tartans, fringe western shirts, lace cutout pants, avocado green, square toed shoes with piping and contrasting leather. Yikes! Don't think I can do any of those. But I do appreciate the vibe. And I like the hooded parkas and flashy embroidered blazers.

What's with the vetements style super long shirt sleeves?

So, I just watched the Dries doc yesterday. Was quite good (esp. if you're already a fan), but Mrs Parker thought is was boring :sarcasm:

My favorite bits:
• Dries searing a roast in a baking dish on the stovetop (I'm totally gonna try that)
• Gardening with Harry and Patrick. Adorable!
• Trying out different fabrics on a model -- many of which looked pretty bad
• Kanye as fawning backstage fan, Dries not giving him time of day
• Fabric selection with staff -- and general tour of his workplace
• Dries' house and interior
• The fact that he plans out driving times between garden destinations on holiday

It made me realize that Dries is all about creating clashes —colors, prints, historical ideas and garments, etc. But clashes that somehow "work" and fit within his particular aesthetic. It made me immediately start looking for more prints.

Agree with this list of favorite parts, but the problem for me was that, for a fashion film, the best parts have nothing to do with the clothes. In fact, the parts where Dries just sits in some sort of dark theater looking at this past shows felt stilted and out of place. Also doesn't help that for the menswear portion, the focus was on the SS16 season (with the random lobster, lips and monroe prints), which IMO was one of the more lackluster ones for Dries recently.

On a tangent, finally wore the full SS14 floral suit out while I was on vacation in Aruba, and wearing the whole suit just makes me appreciate Dries pieces that much more -- it all really works together. Anyways, here's a crappy picture my wife took when we were in the casino.

If anyone else located in the US was interested in watching the Dries documentary that came out this year, it's available on Amazon now for $10.

This doc is now available on netflix also

Tbh I couldn’t finish it...
Every segment I wanted to see more of was really short. And all of the things I really didn’t care about went on and on.
The best part was having the room full of fabric swatches and combos all over the floor.
