Dressier pants for a casual lifestyle?

Hey everybody,

So this is my first post to the forum, and I'd just like to say hey!

Okay, so I have a question. I'm looking for advice on styles of pants to wear to create a dressier look, but still remain casual. I wear on average fitted dark blue wash or grey washed jeans, straight leg, that taper towards the bottom so my shoes aren't engulfed by my jeans (not skinny style; however), with loafers, a sweater (usually v neck, or cardigans) with a scarf sometimes. I'm looking for alternative to jeans, but that create a good look. My body style is awkward, I'm short (5'6 - and larger - 38 in the waist -), so I'm trying to find pants that don't have too wide of a leg, but that don't hug it either. Do you guys have any recommendations? I'm looking for styles under 100, and big box stores as well as speciality stores is fine as well.

I live 30 minutes outside NYC, so I have it as a resource if anyone has any stores they recommend me go into in the city.

Thanks guys,

Joseph.

welcome, please read and lurk around and you'll probably get some good ideas...

check out the what are you wearing today thread for picture ideas (particularly the one in men's wear called "MC casual"), also search for the "brands for the short guy" thread or something, and lastly, visit Uniqlo next time you're in NYC.

to be 'dressier' but still casual, try khakies of various shades plus your usual loafers/boat shoes and polos instead of t-shirts.

at first focus on everything being the right fit for your body and basic simple solid colors that work for your complexion. Start there

Uncontrol, I haven't! Maybe that's my problem ;). Also, rdstour, thank you, I'll use that thread next time - my apologies. And thank you Master-Classter, I'll search the threads, It's funny I was actually in Uniqlo on 5th about a week ago - it's so crowded (gotta love new stores), but I'll try to go in on a weekday morning - hopefully I'll actually be able to get to it next time. What I did see, however, was amazing. I was very impressed with their lineup.

Thanks again!

Joseph.
