Before you start shouting, I would like to clarify that the jeans are dark blue, very smart jeans, I usually ware them with button down shirts.

Well, I recently bought this pair of shoes to wear with a suit that I have, and I wonder if they would look good with dark jeans and shirts. I don't trust my eye...

This isn't harsh – just my perception: wearing those with jeans will make you look like either a cellphone kiosk salesman, a supervisor in a low-wage call center "dressing up," or a $30k milly going to da club.

    +1

For something to go with jeans I'd suggest boots, or chukka boots, or a chunkier shoe

    Barefoot mostly...

This was the first time I tried to do it right. I know, I didn't succeed, but at least I tried something different.

Now, I know that a suit goes with oxfords and derbyes are more informal. Next time I'll try something like this (but with laces).

Not with jeans and indeed not with anything. Burn them.

If you haven't worn them take them back. They may go with slacks, but not with jeans and not with a suit.

    IMO

I wear my Chestnut Allen Edmonds Fairfax with jeans--paired with a nice shirt and/or leather sport coat--with good effect. The rich, warm color of the shoes is a nice contrast to the jeans.

But I'd never wear black dress shoes with jeans.

Is there any black shoe that works with jeans? A penny loafer? Monk strap?

There are plenty of black shoe haters here. I think black shoes look fine with dark wash smart denim. Black boots (E.g. Allen Edmonds Bayfields), penny loafers, or derby shoes all work fine. Overly formal (polished Balmoral shoes) might look a bit odd. I'm not a fan of overly pointy, square toed, or bicycle toe shoes, so I wouldn't recommend them with anything. The more worn in the denim, the less formal I would go.

    HI,

I noticed that there is a lack of articles on how to properly wear and match shoes with jeans for the modern gentleman.

This inspired me to create a detailed image guide and explanation on how to wear dress/formal and casual shoes with your different shades of jeans, inclusive of style and color matching of shoes with jeans. (link below for full detailed guide)

    http://www.customshoe.info/blog/wear-shoes-with-jeans

As Jeans are a staple in every man's wardrobe, hopefully you will find this resource useful in the future.
