Dress shoes for rainy\wet weather?

I have no idea what kind of shoes one wears in a rainy weather?
I have a few shoes with rubber soles and I can use Saphir Super Invulner on them, but what if I have no time or those shoes doesn't really fit well with my outfit?
I have a pair of galosh, but that's only an option if you go from home to work. What if I need to go to a restaurant or opera?
How do you navigate rainy weather when it comes to your dress shoes?

If I am not wearing a suit I usually go with sneakers as they can handle it.
I am more interested about cases when I have to look sharp and all my shoes that would fit my outfit have leather soles

 

[An Acute Style]

For rain, my go to footwear is a suede shoe with a rubber sole. I walk to work from the train in NYC. No issues. Hit it with suede brush and you're good to go. There are many sprays that can waterproof suede. The rubber sole provides traction in wet weather. Suede shoes can work with most tailored clothing. Some people feel suede is inappropriate with some suits, but I don't mind it.

How do you navigate rainy weather when it comes to your dress shoes?

1. I like rubber soles. Ideally, you want something with a bit of height to it to keep your feet drier.
2. I like a textured leather like a pebble grain. Water droplets don't sit on the surface as much with a textured leather. This is especially true if you load up on the shoe cream and polish (which are fat-based and thus hydrophobic).
3) Try to choose a shoe in a sufficiently versatile color and style. It doesn't have to work perfectly with whatever you are wearing. You don't have to be at your most stylish when it's raining.
4) You can always do what some women do and carry your nice shoes with you and then change into them. Not the best option, but better than spending hundreds of extra dollars on extra pairs of shoes.
5) Same with galoshes. If you go the opera when it's raining and you have to walk through the rain you can bring a bag for your galoshes and then check it. At a restaurant you can do the same or just put the bag under the table.

If the suit isn't too formal you could still wear a split toe derby or short wing, both with Dainite soles. Compared to sneakers those are tanks

I think this is actually the most important part, especially since in my experience the real problem isn't actually the rain itself (as long as you have an umbrella if it's really pouring) but the pools all over.
I am considering a derby on a commando sole for this purpose (ofc not with suits, but I don't wear suits anyway, and I think with a SC it's fine). Ofc a storm welt would be great, but very few models have it and it's usually very expensive.

And also this is good advice we all forget at times. I keep seeing people with suits and gym shoes, and every time I scream internally, but compared to them any leather shoe is an improvement.
