Dress shoes coming untied

I have seemed to notice with all my dress shoes they come undone after about an hour of wear and i continuely retie them. Is this common? Or is there any way to fix this? I don't want to double knot them because it creates a hideously large knot. I've tried tying them as tight as possible and it continues to happy. Any way to fix?

Go somewhere like Target and spend $1.50 or so for new shoelaces that are labeled less prone to coming undone.

That's an issue with the laces--some seem never to stay tied, others seem fine. Try some waxed laces, or wax your existing ones with some beeswax or a candle.

Clearly a laces issue. Get some good ones -- either waxed ones or ones that sit flat and look/feel like cotton. Avoid the round, shiny non-waxed ones.

I know you mentioned that you don't like to, but I double knot all my laces. I don't think it looks bad.

I will give another vote for waxed laces. The other type I like are the flat ones. Both work well for me.

I second this recommendation. I've been tying my laces using the secure knot method and i've never had any problems with laces coming loose prematurely.

I'l try that one, i had that site but over looked the part about tying shoes. If all else fails i'll go and spend the few dollars on waxed laces.

The knot is only a pain the first few times. Now I can tie it faster than my old knot.

I checked out that site. I've been tying my shoes wrong my whole life. This really explains a lot including many young years spend in velcro due to my 'inability' to tie my shoes so they wouldn't come undone and trip me. This could truly change my life. Thank you.

I used to have this problem as well. I solved it by tying a double knot, which i never thought was too obvious. If you are really against the double knot, wax laces, as previously mentiond, will solve the problem as well.
