I'll be wearing them probably with a darkish suit. Any suggestions for brands that make some $100ish dress shoes?

You should be able to score Allen Edmonds at below retail prices sometimes used for below $100, sometimes not used for a little bit more. I've heard good things about Loake too and IMO they look a little better than AEs. If you can't score either for within your price range, Bostonions are decent beater shoes that can be had for retail/easy sale prices well below $100.

Allen-Edmonds seconds on deep closeout typically have been priced at $129 (unless it has gone up recently) from the various A-E outlet stores. On my feet at this moment are a pair of Fairgates (plain captoe blucher) in chili that I got at the Allen-Edmonds outlet store in Cabazon, California almost exactly five years ago for that price. I have never been able to figure out what made them seconds, as has been typical of most (but not all) the many A-E seconds I have purchased. I have purchased leather-soled A-E dress shoes for as little as $79 from the Cabazon outlet, but this is atypical. They did have some closeouts briefly on special for $99 not long ago.

brand new AE's under $100 will be tough to come by.

some good quality seconds/pre-owned pairs won't, however.

I've scored two such pairs from B&S and ebay for $70-80

that's too bad, we have no AE stores anywhere near here, other than places that carry AE (Belk).

I picked up a pair of Allen Edmond Camerons from the factory for around $100. I just emailed them and they sent me a list of all available shoes in my size and color I asked for.

Yoox has some in that range, especially at sale time. These aren't the foursquare American or English shoes, just the lighter, sleeker Italian ones.

They do ship. If you know your size and are familiar with the lasts, this can work well.

Hugo Boss dress shoes are pretty cheap and they look good. If you try ebay you can find some good deals. They run big so make sure you size down a half or a whole size. They aren't the best quality in the world but good enough as long as you take care of them. I have two pairs, whenever I wear either I get compliments.
