So I've been trying to figure out my shoe sizing for quite a while now. Originally I thought I was an 8 or 8.5, but I went to the mall today, and found that the best sizing for me feet are 7D in Ferragamo Tramezza and 7E for Allen Edmonds Park Avenues. I was wondering how this sizing translates to other brands, especially Crocket & Jones (I'm very interested in finding a pair, but no one seems to sell them). For reference, I've been looking for a pair of black dress shoes, preferably captoes, and either an oxford or monkstrap. If anyone sees a nice looking pair that's priced at around $300 or below, please forward me to them
. Thanks! On an unrelated note, thanks to those who told me to get my suit retailored at Bloomingdales. I brought it in today and they're going to do the alterations for free
.

You've lost me. How can you not know your own shoe size? I am not trying to be a jerk, I just cannot understand how somebody would not know their shoe size. What have you been wearing on your feet until now?

Go to a shoe store and have your foot measured on a Brannock (the metal shoe measuring device every shoe store owns). Be sure you get the heel-to-ball measurement found by using the slider on the side of the device as this measures your arch length, which is more important in finding a proper fit than the standard heel-to-toe measurement (unless, by some odd chance, your heel-to-toe is larger, in which case you must make room for your toes). Then, measure your width; then, try on some shoes and see what works. Tada!

Shoe size depends on the shoe and the last. I am a 9B in most AE and Alden lasts. I am a 9B in Ferragamo Tremezza (but it is wider that a 9B AE). In EG, I'm a UK8E/US8.5D in the 82 and 888 lasts. In C&J, I wear a UK7.5E/US8D in the 337 last. You have to try them on.

Shoe size varies from last to last and from brand to brand. I was trying to get a feel for the differences between each. I normally wear 8.5 in athletic shoes and so on, but for some reason, my proper dress shoe size is 7 (I knew the dress shoe size was smaller, but I wasn't expecting 1.5 size difference). Most of my dress shoes up to this point have been TTS in comparison with my athletic shoes, so I was wondering if certain brands are different, that's all. As for Crockett & Jones, I meant more local physical store locations in Philadelphia or NYC. I know the online sites, but don't want to order something and find that it doesn't fit.
