Dress shirts

For Christmas, I got a dress shirt and some cufflinks. The shirt is just a standard barrel cuff shirt. Is there a way I can have an alterations tailor make the cuff into a hybrid cuff so I can wear it with cufflinks?

Double cuff shirts can be made into a single (button) cuff, however you will need a really good tailor to do these to a high standard. But, to answer your question, this hybrid cuff you speak of already exists, and is know as The Convertible cuff; appears as a button cuff, buttons horizontal placed across the cuff. Should you need to smarten up for a last minute meeting, you can place the cuff edges together, where a second button hole sits, neatly aligned in order for you to feed your cuff link through. Perfetto!
