Dress Shirt Wash Frequency?

Hello all,
Apologies if there have already been posts on this (I searched but didn't find anything)

How often do you wash your dress shirts? Do you wash them after every wear?

I like to hand wash & iron my nicer dress shirts, and it's a time-consuming proposition to do it every time, especially since I don't really sweat/always wear an undershirt/rarely stain them. Is it bad to just iron the shirt and only wash every few times I wear it? Will the shirt last longer or will it shorten the life?

I'm brand new to the forum and have enjoyed searching and reading a great deal - you guys always have some great input.

Thanks in advance!

I wash after every wearing.

I would think if you iron without washing, you could be setting in stains/dirt/oils, etc.

great point. that makes sense to me - it would probably not be good for the cloth.

oh well, home I go to hand wash & iron :)

On another note, I know that Brooks Brothers generally gets a not-so-great wrap on these boards for being rather highly priced for only relative quality, but I recently picked up a couple of Select Slim Fit shirts - and they are not only made of excellent quality material, but they are ACTUALLY slim fitting. I ended up ordering a 15" neck with a 14.5 Slim-Fit Torso, and it fits almost as tightly as my 14.5 Thomas Pink Slim Fit shirts. Plus, the shirts (fully customized, edge stitching and all) came to about $190 and the Thomas Pink shirts were $180 + tax + shipping. I have to say I could not be happier!!

I'm having a look at their Two Suits for $999 deal going on right now. There are a few Loro Piana Fitzgerald suits that I have my eye on (retail $1050-ish) that are part of the two for $999...

I'd say after every wear - else, the shirt could get stained. I've had the inside of the collar stain because I simply procrastinated washing.

But on the flip side, I would also say that washing/dry cleaning your dress shirts too frequently could potentially affect the material (depending on your cleaner, the detergent etc. of course). So, make sure that you don't destroy your shirt after washing it 20 times in a month for six months.
