Hello SF,
After furiously searching for an average break/pant length for slim fit suit trousers I finally decided the only way to get a clear answer for my question would be to post actual pictures. Im new to these slim fitting modern cut pants.

Without further ado:

The first two pics are if I align the pants perfectly while standing they often get caught in the back

This is when my pants are after walking and the pants rise a little and legs arent perfectly straight

I asked tailor for a short break look, is this how it is with slim fitting pants?

Thank you for the help. I hope to develop a de facto standard to tell tailors in the future to give me a 1.5" break from the floor etc...after your advice.

well, first you should get your pants hemmed to a length which you are comfortable with. But in general terms, you probably want nothing longer then a slight break on slim pants, pretty much how you have it in your pics. That being said, if you find yourself always adjusting your pants because you don't like seeing your socks when you walk, then you should go lower. Whatever you decide, the goal should be to have your clothing fit comfortably enough that you don't have to think about it after you put it on.

I don't mind my socks showing when I'm walking but the issue was that my socks show while I'm standing if I had been moving before. Not sure if I'm making too big a deal of this.

I was in the same situation that you are. You would have to have a lot of break to never show sock while standing because your leg opening aren't much wide their your shoe opening (not sure of term) . I've just accepted showing a little sock while standing. I actually have less of a break than you. It might look weird to muggles though.

Also, you can get a slanted hem to avoid your pants looking too short from the sides and back.
