Anyone have a good recipe for this stuff ? Recently tried for the first time. Great mixer with ginger ale. Website has other recipes, including lots of hot toddys.

ginger ale?! huh. I'm torn between vague disgust and even vaguer curiosity....

I pour a healthy slug into hot cocoa on a cold night. It's the perfect sit-by-a-fire drink.

Why would you (anyone) mix Drambuie with a single malt? JW Black is the perfect foil for that application.

There is also the Bobbie Burns (which Piobaire introduced me to) in which Drambuie is added to a Rob Roy, and the sweet vermouth is feathered back slightly.

Give a Rusty Nail a try sometime. Just use an adequate blended Scotch, perhaps one of the cheaper Johnny Walker labels, nothing exceptional.

I thought about ordering one when out last night, actually. Opted for a Godfather instead, which is a rather similar cocktail -- main difference being the use Amaretto instead of Drambuie.

When I purchased at the liquor store, a regular and frequent connesieur of the cheap mini vodkas started smiling and shaking his head standing next to me in line. I turned, chuckled at him and asked for his tip on mixes. He told me to "put it in some cola and serve it to your lady"!

I will admit to enjoying an occasional amaretto sour, but the neighborhood wino calling me out on drinking Buie was pretty funny.

Any other recipes ?
