Dr. Martens Flora Boots size help

Hello!
I just received my new Docs in the Flora model. I heard that they run very large so i ordered a size down. However, they do not fit me (they are a bit too small lengthwise). My cousin told me that hers got very big after walking in them for some time. Should i return them for a size up or have you experienced that they get bigger after a while?
