Dover 606 or 888

I hope this is where I'm supposed to post this.

I am thinking of purchasing the Edward Green Dover but I'm not sure if I want it on the 606 last that it comes with or the 888 last. Does anyone have any pics of the Dover on an 888 last? Any comments are welcome, Thanks.

i like the 888, i dont know , maybe it is the color that is making my choice biased.

Only order the 888 if you've tried the shoe on and are happy with the fit. Some men find the toe box too cramped. I'm one of them.

The 606 is not quite as highly styled but it fits just about everyone.

Great Pics! I love the look of the Ecton. What I was wondering is if the Dover would be shaped more like the Ecton (more squared) on an 888 last or if it would still be more rounded. What I like about the Ecton is that even the Apron stitching is more squared off rather than rounded at the toe where the split begins.

Also, is it still possible to get the Ecton and who has the best prices on Edward Green shoes?

If anyone else has any pics they want to post, to compare Dover and Ecton lasts I would love to see them. Basically I am looking for the style of the Ecton but it does not seem to be available. I am not sure if the Dover would be shaped the same as the Ecton if it were on the 888 last.

Aportnoy, I'm going to bother you one more time. If you could post comparison pics of the Dover in 888 and the Ecton in 888 next to eachother I think that would help me answer my question once and for all.

EG makes what their retailers order, so who knows who has it at any given time. You can, however, always have it made up as a special order anytime you want. I believe that LeatherSoul ordered them in burgundy antique on 888 a few months ago, but they're likely long gone. Speaking of LeatherSoul, Tom Park, the proprietor, is excellent. He does not attempt to get into price wars with other retailers, but his prices are good. His service is second to none. Edit: I have Dover on 808 and 606 and Fulham, a Dover-style double monkstrap, on 82. I like all of them a great deal, but I like the 82 the best. If I had to choose between the 888 and the 606, I would choose the 888 -- strangely, the 606 doesn't fit me as well as the 888.
