I've been ruminating between different brands of Double Monk Straps since I believe it's time for me to step up my style and add them to my collection :)

I've been looking at a few brands. Skolyx has been on my list based on a suggestion, but I later realized they use a rubber sole. I think a double leather sole would be best for me and my flat footedness, which prompted me to look at Sid Mashburn's Double Monks which were created by Alfred Sargent. Meermin's and Carlos Santos have been suggested to me as well.

Really price isn't a concern but rather the comfort and style of the shoe. I'd prefer to pay no more than $600 for a double monk shoe. Thanks fo your help!

I h

ave some TLB monks and they fit true to size.

Thanks man! You got any pictures? I'm trying to decide on the ones with the Alan Last.

They helped me a bit with my questions but they don't have a reference in regards to a Brannock Scale. Last Spanish shoe I had I was a 10.5 in it but usually wear 11.5 Dress shoes (with the exception of Alden Barrie Last which I wear a 10D).

It may depend a lot on width are you a standard width? I like the look of Italian made double monks its' just my feet are to wide for those slim lasts.

These are my measurements when I used a Brannock.

Right Foot: 10.5D
Left Foot: slightly longer, about 11C/D

I measured them also.

Right Foot: ~27.75cm
Left Foot: ~28cm

You should have a number of options then, Carmina, C&J, Carlos Santos, etc.

Since I need EEE I went with AE St. Johns. Just so happens I'm wearing them today.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
