I've looked at some English shoemakers double monk straps and don't like them. I'm lost on where else to look. Everything i've looked at is double monk with broguing/medallions/wingtips/captoe. I just want a simple quality and stylish double monk.

Any recommendations?

Not sure what English shoes you looked at, but the CJ Lowndes are beautiful and not embellished.

No broguing or medallions or wingtips etc. Has a captoe....but most double monks are going to have cap toes.

They also make the Seymour III, with no captoe. Handgrade though, so more pricey.

CJ is out of my budget. My budget is around 400 USD I've seen the total opposite with monk straps, no captoe. I just want a plaintoe and from any country is fine: UK, Italy, US.

If you search "monk shoes" on farfetch I think you'll find plenty that meet your criteria.

I love Cobbler Union's double monks. I am having a pair made in Oxblood right now :)

Their oxblood is gorgeous! Look at the color on these - https://www.cobbler-union.com/collections/the-boots/products/renoir-museum-oxblood-soho

Im have a pair of the Renoir in brown, but love that oxblood so much that I may buy those too!

While it’s common to find monk straps with a plain toe, most double monks I’ve seen have at least a captoe.

You’re seeking something very specific and setting a hard price limit. Something has to give. Personally, I think a captoe double monk strap is simple enough. The double buckles are enough bling without the need for additional embellishment but I don't consider a captoe to be an embellishment.
