I have always admired the double monks, they can be easily dressed up or down.

I am looking to acquire a pair which is not black but any other color would work really.
I cam here for advice regarding which to go after, my budget is around $300 mark and I have no problem going after a well taken care of pair.
Can you gentlemen help me by pointing out the best options available to me?

Herring, Carmina, or Meermin would work. Carmina would need be used, as new they are about $475 USD.

Meermin leather is too tough for my liking! Carmina sounds good.
How about C&J? There are some made for peal co on the bay that are around the 350 mark

If you're looking for something near about $300-$400, durable and perfect fit. You should definately checkout the Monk Strap collection of Barker Shoes.

Bodileys have 20% off at the moment, and their Markham double monk is a Cheaney shoe on the 205 last. Its almost identical in shape and fit to the 348 last by crockett and is an elegant and easilly wearable shoe.

My journey started with Alfred Sargent Exclusive Ramsays. I like them and the fitting qualities are amazing, but they're a little too short for my liking, I prefer a slightly elongated toe box with soft chisel, and the Markhams do that well.

I'd like to try a pair of C&J Handgrade Double Monks, but i probably don't need three pairs in my life just now.

My advice, check out the Markhams, Have a look at Loake Cannons if they're a bit above budget.

Even the main offerings of TLB Mallorca are a superb monkstrap option, at around $340 excluding VAT.

Archibald London (affiliate here) are selling their shoes at cost at the moment thought their 'Naked' promotion. I own their double monks, they are hand welted, made in Italy, and would probably be at the $350 mark at the moment. Might be worth checking out.
