Double Monk Shoe Size

I recently bought some double monks from Charles Tyrwhitt in an 8.5 (UK), and they fit perfectly/snugly in the heel/main foot, but there is ~1 CM in the toe box. Was just wondering: Is this normal, or should I go down half a size (or whatever)? The shoe doesn't move around, when my foot's in it, and there's no extra room in the heel.

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times.

All depends on the shape of the last really. 1" seems quite a lot if it's not an elongated last.

Too much room might see some unslightly creases develop in the toe box.

Edit: Sorry - I read that as 1.5". 1" doesn't seem *too* overly large a gap.

Thanks, man! IDK, will they shrink at the toe or the heel, though, if I go down half a size? I mean, the shoe fits perfectly otherwise!
