Hey,

finally caving in and buying my first pair of monks soon. I still can't decide between Loake's Cannon (http://www.zalando.de/loake-cannon-slipper-brown-lo212a00h-702.html) and Meermin's Hebilla (http://www.meermin.es/ficha_articulo.php?id=2338). Pros for the Loake in my opinion: made in England, really liking the Brown. Pros for Meermin: much cheaper, liking the shape a bit more (only judging from seeing pictures).

So, what do you guys think? I'm willing to spend the extra money for the Loake if they're worth it, but really can't make up my mind.

Just pick the ones you think looks best. From what I have read they are pretty similar in quality...

Meermin's look more elegant - always felt the 'Cannon' was the perfect name for Loake's one - it just looks slightly unwieldy.

Head over to the Meermin thread and check some quality feedback.

Or - check out Herring - more expensive than the Meerin but since I've got a pair I can vouch for their service and the quality of their shoes was pretty good. Might be a little elongated for your tastes - if that's the case I'd recommend the Meermin's shape.

Thanks for the Herring tip. I already knew that one but am not to convinced by the very pointy shape and the color seems to look like a rather reddish brown, but I'd like a more classic dark brown. I mailed with the Meermin guys a couple of times now and they sent me a couple of real pictures of the Hebilla. Think I'm going with this model then.

The Meermins look nicer, but both are good. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Going with the Meermin then, also because I prefer the less pointy shape. They said it will take between 2-3 weeks for delivery.
