I just saw a version of it by Isaia in person. Pure cashmere (navy blue on outside and a plaid pattern on the inside. No lining whatsoever, except the sleeves, I believe.

I believe Bogioli also makes something similar (heavy weight thick soft fabric, unlined jacket) and they call them jersey jackets.

Anybody know where I can source some double-faced fabric like that?

I havn't seen the jacket in question, but are you sure it's not just two different fabrics placed back to back?

Zegna is making something similar and calling them Duo jackets, duo referring to the double face of the cloth. I reckon they might be selling the cloth as well ... Zegna -> Seasonal Hiughlights -> Duo

Seemed to be woven together in stead of two distinct layers sewn together

I saw something like this at Tip Top in Greenpoint. Give them a call (they're in the book).

Double-face fabric are actually two fabrics connected throughout their entire length and width by thread loops.

That means, a double-face fabric will have the handle of a single fabric, but it can also be pulled apart partially
to place the seams between the two fabrics.

Rubinacci (ready-to-wear in Harrods) offers a casual coat made from double-face cashmere.

I don't understand: what function does it serve for the cloth to be double-faced?

^^ Even I dont understand that, seems a waste unless the garment is reversible

You can make a totally reversible garment with no colour from one side showing at the other side. That will mean a lot of handwork is required.

For example the front edge an be constructed without binding. You pull the two layers apart, maybe 1" deep, then you fold both fabrics to the inside and close them with a row of hand-stitching.

Double-face fabrics have been around for a long time.

Sometimes it's just nice to have something that's unique/weird.

^^ I think the manufacturers want to market it as discrete super luxury rather than weird

I had assumed it WAS reversible, but reading the OP again he does say the sleeves are lined. I would guess, then, it's a akin to the Etro/Paul Smith propensity for wild graphical linings but attempting to be a little more refined and unconventional? If double-faced fabric is essentially two layers woven together, that would make it a fairly warm jacket, right? So it could be for the thermal properties in addition to the stylistic ones

^ NOT reversible.

To me that's better than a reversible jacket. Only the wearer gets to enjoy the inside cashmere, which cannot be seen at all by others unless the jacket is off.

Discreet luxury FTW!
