Double Cufflink Markings?

Just purchased in always-wonderful "Retropolitan," in Ellicott City, MD, a pair of double cufflinks with sterling silver and enamel. Marking on back of each chain is "830S G.S." Is the "G.S." german silver? I haven't found a reference to this on the web. Any indication from this combination of letters and numbers what the nationality might be and era? The image, incidentally, is ships and they look handpainted - with little differences in all four images. I might post photos later but I'm just askin' about the country/approx. year span right now. They're exquisite, btw.

The 830S is the degree of purity (830/1000).

Not sure about the GS, but it could be any number of makers, I'd have thought.

Pics would significantly help with your crowd-sourcing attempt.

Actually, I have now seen some references to "g.s." as german silver, which apparently has no silver at all. Wonder if it has to mean "german silver." The dealer polished it with Bon Ami and it cleaned up just like silver.

What is "crowd-sourcing attempt?"

Wups! I put wrong letter. It's "G.R." What could 'G.R" mean after the silver content identity?

The cufflinks look just like these in shape and form. Only difference is image - ships. The ones here are said to be Danish and have the same markings.
