Gentlemen,

I am going to order fresco summer suits (8/10 oz) soon.

As I am very fond of the DB style, I am thinking of having one made DB.

Would you consider this inappropriate / unpractical for summer?

Many thanks!

There is nothing wrong with it, though I personally tend to get all hot weather jackets SB, as I need all the relief from the heat I can get.

Same with me. I have a db in linen that's not uncomfortable in the heat.

While I don't have a DB fresco (unless you count my three piece suit--in the H&S Crispaire--with a DB vest), I do have a light gray mohair/worsted DB for summer. It works well for warm weather, even here in the brutally humid subtropics.

DB lightweight fresco is a good match with cotton/linen or linen shirts in the summer. You stay somewhat cooler and drier on balance, and the jacket disguises the disrepair into which your shirt is sliding.

No frescoes but I do have ultra-light DB's for summer. It's hardly inappropriate and I don't think they wear noticably warmer. Get it 1/4 lined or emerzine lined and you'll be fine.

Gentlemen: Thank you so much for all the replies - I will definitely get a DB then.

Lining: I have never heard of emerzine lining. What is that / what would you recommend?

Those are perfectly fine, but if your tailor carries Smiths, do look at their Finmeresco line. 12oz, 4-ply fresco that is much softer and more elegant than the Minnis. No obvious downside, except for the lack of stripe options.
