I've seen a few double breasted cardigans in recent men's magazines. What's your take -- will they remain a stylish sweater or are they just a passing fashion fad?

I know what double-breasted is, and I know what a cardigan is. But I hadn't seen them together before, so I did an image search. Thanks to you OP, I am now blind, and my life expectancy has been considerably shortened.

I think DB cardis were popular in the early 90s. Sure I've not seen once since. Pics?

They had racks of them at the recent Daffy's liquidation.

If you are considering it, don't.

A fad in my opinion. there's nothing like wearing the classic cardigans and you wouldn't have to think twice about what to pair it with.

Like most things there are good ones and bad ones. I've seen some excellent ones lately that I would wear as an alternative to a navy blazer or tweed jacket. Depending upon the weave I think they can have a retro early Hollywood (smooth weave, solid navy) or an old Irish pub look (heather chunky knit with horn buttons)

Unless you consider hand knit, quality construction a #menswear fad [IMG]

I think it can be pulled off, and I think several designers are doing it well. Even saw a brooks brothers shawl collared db cardigan that I personally liked a bit.

It seems double breasted everything is coming back strong, which alarms me because it feels like yesterday when double breasted suits started to become less popular.

However, I say stick to classic cardigans if you can. There are too many good options out there that, in my opinion, look better than double breasted cardigans, especially when unbuttoned.

Also, I feel like they will stay in style for far longer than a double breasted one would.

I have one, I think it's Vince. I think you've gotta rule on this on a case by case basis.
