little help here, gents... we're gonna need handlesets, knobs, dead bolts, hinges, etc.. for our house and I'm not sure where to begin here. teh wife's looking at ashley norton, I am only familiar with schlage and baldwin. she wants the aged/darkened bronze look, I just want a set that can be keyed alike. are there any other brands there worth my time? and can anyone point to me sites where I can order these on discount?

thanks, guys.

Since I do this myself and sometimes spur-of-the-moment, we tend to use Kwikset Titan which has been a good lockset IMHO. I like the extra pin for the Titan keys - not that it matters all that much. I think there's one Kwikset that allows for quick re-keying which may not offer ideal security, but if I need to re-key on the fly it's a help.

The folks like Baldwin, but I've not looked hard at it. I'm pretty utilitarian in that regard. Good luck mang.

You might need a proxy to get them on discount in the states. Lemme know if you need any help. As for finish and fit, I'd just go for the one with the best security and warranty. The rest is just bullshit.

I was considering replacing the 65-year-old hardware on the interior doors in my house to freshen it up a bit. I was a little shocked to see the jump from in price from the Schlage/Baldwin/Kwikset stuff to the some of the more designer stuff that I looked at such as Emtek. I'd like something with a little bit of design quality, but $135 for a regular passage door knob is more than I was hoping to pay.
