Don't really like slim-fit dress shirts

Now that I am wearing dress shirts to work again everyday, I've come to the conclusion that I don't really like slim-fit dress shirts.

I know this may be forum heresy, but they just don't look as good to me as my regular fit shirts. Luckily, out of my 30 or so shirts, only about 4 or 5 are slim fit (all from BB) so I can avoid them.

I am 6'3" currently 185 lbs, so I don't think I'm too fat for them.

Anyone else prefer the look of a full cut shirt?

I'm in good shape and I'm short. I have no reason to want a fuller cut out of fear of looking short and fat.

Not particularly, no.

The way I see it, if you're thin enough to get away with slim-fit, do it. I'm yet to meet a full cut shirt that doesn't make the wearer look fat, regardless of their actual physique.

I understand where you're coming from Bradford, I do have a couple slim fit shirts that are a little constricting esp when worn with a jacket. While I not arging against the slim fit shirt, I think sometimes people over stae the difference it makes in showing off or hiding your build. A good friend of mine who is very skinny wears a PRL sport shirt (really full cut) nearly every day often tucked into full cut pleated pants. Yet his slimness is stil evident, he doesn't look at all fatter, or swollen in them, in fact it's a very ellegant look. A few months ago I--for a variety of reasons--put on a few pounds, nothing major, I was probably 180-185 tops (I'm 6'3"), my shirts still fit fine but I felt in some cases I looked better and thinner in fuller cut shirts.

+1

I'm in the same boat, although I still have a couple of PRL blue label classic fit button downs that I wear because I got a good deal on them and I like the soft feel. All of my other shirts are BB slim fits.

I just get MTM shirts these days. Outside of rare occurrences, nothing really feels slim to me in stores.

I understand this, but when you do the measurements--I'm thinking chest in particular--BB stacks up pretty even with most other slim fit guys.

What are you comparing them to? I haven't found many classic-style dress shirts that meet the slim fit bill, but if you've found one, please share.

I wonder if it's a question more about neck size relative to body then just weight. Or just general body shape. "Classic" fit might be okay if your natural shape is less V. Shoulders not much bigger then your chest. etc

Now that I look at the shirts, I take back the "chest" part, but asides from that, it's pretty baggy all around.

H&M and Zara slim fit dress shirts I have, as well as RL custom fit shirts I've tried, all for my size, the "slim fit" BB shirts fit pretty baggy

Slim fit shirts are the better fitting shirts...until you put on a few pounds!!! you look fatter immeditaley in a slim fit, and people notice straight away...with regular or fuller fit shirts you can hide those few extra puonds without anybody noticing...i have 4 slimfit shirts that i never wear (cos i can't get into them anymore!!lol!).

I know what you mean, that the fuller shirts can actually look pretty good sometimes.

i think the key here is that it's still shaped well. I'm trying to find a pic on the web, but i definitely know the look you're talking about.
