Does anyone know who makes Spano's ties. I think the ties are beautiful, but they are ridiculously priced (About $175.00).

Jeez Alou,

That's more than Brioni and Stefano Ricci ties; the price tag that is.

Maybe it's Italo Ferretti? They make Brioni and Stefano Ricci ties...

I have a few, and Drake's made them all (in England). As discussed in the Barneys' ties thread, you can discern this by spotting the "MD" on the back of the tag on the narrow blade.

They are pricey. I've been told by Mimmo that he designs the patterns. I really do like the heft of the ties and the classic patterns, which are on the table on the left when you walk into his area. I'm not very fond of the more "fashion-forward" ties, located on the table on the right.

The good ones are all Drakes. When at Bergdorf, he had some Italian private label make him true unlined sevens. Those were great ties; all gone now. I agree that the make of his ties excellent, and they are nice and long and have a good shape. Not all of the designs are so great, however, and $175 is pretty steep. They never seem to go on sale, either.

Manton, he recently told me he should be getting true unlined sevens in soon. Maybe it will be from that same firm. This was a few weeks ago, so they might be in by now. I can only imagine the price that will be charged.
