What is everyone's opinion on these? I can get one for $450 and wanted to know if it would be worth it. The one I want to get is 80% wool, 20% silk. I know this brand gets some grief on here but don't really have the cash for a Kiton or Purple Label right now.

I prefer the cut of the lesser D & G , more classic an usable for bussiness. Dolces are super padded and those ridiculous lapels will do a very bad investment over time. I only like their shoes and some pants. Very Beckham or eurotrash clubber look. Those are 1200-1800 euros here, so get them for that price. But don´t try to wear them in like... 2 seasons, out of fashion soon. Nice nick hatebama , I´m with you!!!

I see on tv daily those horrendous silky like tiny lapels models, same in shops. I never seen those then. Nice found.

One of my favorite suits is a Dolce mainline in a great cut and a fairly conservative grey chalkstripe. I'm not going to win any street cred on SF for admitting to that fact, but so be it. It's an awesome suit, and when I wear it, people don't ask if I'm bringing sexy back, because they know damn well that it never left in the first place.

Of course, I'm the sort of ne'er-do-well who enjoys loud Turnbull & Asser ties and has readily admitted to the occasional Tom Ford purchase. So take my non-orthodox opinions with a grain of salt. (At the same time, since rebellion against SF-groupthink seems to be the hot new thing these days, I'll hedge against the appearance of hipsterish bandwagoneering by admitting that I like EG shoes and find them correctly rated here).

To my knowledge, the mainline stuff is made by Lardini. I have a tan pinstripe suit that is quite nice. Not corporate wear, but nice with a white button down shirt and chelsea boots. So there you go, another member here who doesn't hate the brand.

Dolce is awesome - as long as you don't pay retail for reasons outlined above: sometimes they can be slightly too fashiony and may go out of season

I agree with most of the pro-posts here. It really depends on which version of the label you go with. I have a black label jacket I just purchased and absolutely love it. The padding is very subtle so that it accentuates the shoulder but doesnt try to reconstruct it and the fabric hangs very well. Mine is in virgin wool though.

But on the same note, I do believe alot of their stuff does tend towards the flash-in-the-pan trendy side. It just comes down towards you picking your clothes versus someone doing it for you.
