There was a woman I knew who was once eating the mini oreos out of the bag and I put a small dog treat in the package. She liked the taste.

Try BLUE.

We use Honest Kitchen for our dog. Most of the other brands that we were giving him for the first year and a half were too rich for his digestion. He seems to like this and has greatly reduced soft poop output. My wife's grandmother used to complain the dog was "too ******" on the old food.

Try Orijen...it's well regarded as the best grain-free, natural dog food. My dog has been eating it exclusively when he's not on his raw diet. Although it sounds kooky, look into a raw diet around the internet. My dog has been doing extremely well and eats a well-rounded diet of raw chicken, pork, fish and beef Orijen is definitely the "easier" way to go.

Breed-specific message boards can be very helpful as well. Try looking up if one exists for your dog and I will bet there is a ton of threads on which foods are recommended.

Breed specific forums can be some scarey places.

From what I have read Origen is generally considered to be the one of the best. Look into raw if you have the time/inclination. Taste of the Wild is another good one.

In general I would look for foods made in N. America, and a short ist of ingredients. A lot of the better foods will use actual meat, rather than the protein stew of fat and asshole.

Yup. Talk about group-think. I tend to limit my time on there to 20 mins tops if I need something. It is definitely not a place to waste time during the day.

+1 for Orijen. My dogs (French Bulldog and Miniature Pinscher) get the 6 Fish variety. The French Bulldog's farts smell like the cabbage served up on St. Patrick's Day in a dive bar, however.

Could be worse.

This is how the they all operate:

Each forum assumes that their breed is superior to all the other breeds and within the forum itself there are competitions to see who has the best dog from that selected breed. Differentiators include color, breeder, showmanship, diet, temperament, name, looks, toys, tricks, and so on. Keeping track of who has the best dog is far too complicated.
