Does washing dry denim make it one-wash?

Ok, so I know that title may sound stupid, but if I wash a pair of raw jeans right away, to get sizing straghtened out, but then hold off on washing a gain for a long time, will the jeans wear like a one-wash jean? Or is there something else that makes a one-wash different?

Well, um, one-wash jeans have been washed once, so if you wash your jeans once...

For the most part, washing dry denim once will make them like one-washes, but I believe denim manufacturers wash them a bit more thoroughly than a simple cold soak. Maybe someone like LA Guy can enlighten us though.

I saw the truncated title and was really expecting something else from "does washing dry denim make..." Disappointing.

yes, but be aware that one simple wash will not get the full shrinkage that a factory "one wash" will have

the guy saying something about factory one-washes being different from homebrewn,
yeah, i hear some stores who sell one-wash wash and then tumble dry, while most ppl who buy raw and hot soak do not. my pbjs from bears for example are according to xcoldricex washed then tumble dried.

if I was one-wash jeans, do they become two-wash? Is there any market for such jeans?

If I wear raw jeans for 6 or so months and they become heavliy distressed, do they become distressed jeans?

Sorry man, this thread is ripe for the taking!

Factory one-washed jeans are indeed tumbed dry AFAIK, hence the wrinkles.

Well, feel free to congratulate me on my new Straight Sven One Wash Selvage jeans

. I didn't want a lot of shrinkage, what I wanted was to try and control waist stretching as much as possible. I didn't tumble dry because I didn't want to ruin the color.

hmmm... a belt would have controlled the waist stretching.
and nudies are sanforized, so the shrinking you've achieved is minimal.
but so long as you are using the smiley-face-smiley, all is well.
