I'm in Shanghai right now and Uniqlo sells black RAW denim similar to APC NS black. I tried out size 29 and it seems to fit me pretty well. However, I'm not sureif the jeans will stretch out a lot like APC NS. I would like to get some comments on this. Thanks!

I think it depends on the model & year. I bought some one washes a few years ago that barely stretched and wore great. Then I bought some of the raw selvedge last fall in HK and they have stretched like crazy. They were also too soft, so there was no hope of fading. dropped em

^ Are you sure about that? Spandex stretches bad, even at 1%.

My selvedge pair stretched some and I shrank them back in the dryer. My rinsed pair and the part-linen/hemp(?) pair both just shrank.

I think we're talking about permanent stretching out the jeans, not elastic stretching and returning. Yeah, spandex stretches, but it also returns back to its original shape.

I wear a belt every time I wear these jeans so I don't worry too much about the waist stretching. The skinny fit (the ones with stretch, although I think the slim straight models this season also have spandex) are skintight unless you're a stick. Any stretch that might happen isn't noticeable because the jeans are just stretching to accommodate your ass/thighs/legs. If you size up a lot, however, some sort of permanent stretch might be noticeable.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
