Does this suit look dated?

Button stance looks fine to me. Is that an Oxxford? I'm not sure I see a button hole on the lapel.

What about lapel thickness and level of shoulder padding? Look ok?

It's not an oxxford but I do agree that it looks like one.

I wouldn't say dated, but I wouldn't say modern. Let's just call it in between.

Low button stance usually isn't a problem in my experience, Ralph Lauren Black Label easily proves this point, as they have easily one of the lowest button stances ever yet still look very modern and stylish.

Lapel width and gorge height/shape is usually the problem... in this case, yes, it says 80's to me.

I think it looks a little dated - I don't think you'd find anything exactly like it in a retail store today. Button stance is definitely lower than I'd prefer. Also the notch of the lapel is a little funny.... sort of opening downwards if you know what I mean.

I agree with this. It's somewhere in between.

You can make it work depending on the shirt and tie you wear with it. Also, we're basing all this on the jacket, but seeing the pants would help too.

I quite like it, though I could only envisage wearing it if I were to give a lecture or something; it seems very academic to me.

Absolutely not... it certainly isn't "trendy" but depending on when/where you plan to wear it that shouldn't be a problem.

Not all - run of the mill classic which won't make you stand out.
