Does this coat look odd without a chest pocket? I thought overcoat supposed to have a chest pocket, yes?

No. Many classic overcoats have no breast pocket.

Just me, but I feel odd without the breast pocket. I have one such overcoat but it just doesn't feel right without a bit of silk peeking out.

It might benefit from a pocket since there is such an expanse of fabric there (esp. because of the fly front), but I wouldn't immediately notice that it was missing.

I don't know if you're trying to make a point, but Boyer's coat is made of patterned fabric, which doesn't look nearly as monolithic as the plain camel fabric of the one in the picture.

My point is that overcoats do not require a breast pocket, as would a suitcoat. Many classic styles never had them.

The style of coat that Boyer is wearing wouldn't have a breast pocket, regardless of the pattern of its material.

I rather like the clean appearance of a breast pocketless overcoat. The last overcoat I bought -- about a year ago -- didn't have one.

I would never have a pocket square in an overcoat, though any additional pockets are nice to have just for storing gloves, sunglasses, etc. That overcoat Boyer's wearing reminds me of one Indy Magnoli sells on his website. Quite beautiful.

A classic vintage coat from the 30s with no pocket.

With those double breasteds, the pocket would be pretty obscured by the lapels anyway.

Yikes! I could personally never buy a sport coat or suit that lacked a breast pocket. I'd feel somewhat naked without a place to put my glasses or linen.

Continuing the recent Avengers theme, John Steed/Patrick Macnee was fond of the no-pocket look....

It looks fine on them, you don't need to convince me. I just couldn't go without one myself.

Varvatos looks like he's wearing a shawl collar... maybe it's just my monitor.
