I was just trying to throw together some looks for fun for more elegant clubbing, wanted to see what you guys thought of this: Gucci shirt/tie Theory cotton blazer RRDS shoes not shown, but I was wearing some Varvatos ankle boots [IMG] BTW the collar got flipped up a bit, it's a very soft shirt, not really meant to be worn with a tie, so I thought it would make the look a bit more casual and relaxed.

It looks good, but I think the outfit is a little too dark for my personal tastes. Also, showing some cuff would look better.

Now that I think about it, I think a french cuff would be great with this outfit. It would add a touch of arrogance - perfect for clubbing.

As I mentioned before the shirt is kinda soft so it doesn't always slide down, I can show about 0.25-0.5" of cuff with this shirt. French cuffs are sorta a good idea though...

When you say clubbing, what do you mean? What kind of clubs?
I know I sweat a lot at clubs

I'm not lovin' it. White shirt and tie-less, or loosely knotted tie, would be more dashing -- the contrast, etc. Current look is more would-be mobwear. I've tried it in the past; doesn't work for me either.

Blazer buttoned has two strong diagonal lines pointing to belly. Is this what you want to emphasize?

i think that's the first time i've ever seen just the bottom button fastened on a blazer.

not that big of a fan of the outfit either. i agree that a white shirt might save it. admittidly, i'm not a fan of dressing up jeans though.

I would button top and leave bottom unbuttoned.

and to leave out the bottom of the jean fit and shoes is leaving out something crucial.

and yeah, youre supposed to have to have the top button buttoned, not the bottom.

also, if you're wearing a shirt that isnt meant for a tie, you might not want to have it the tie that tight.

pretty nice for dressing up jeans, something i myself don't do normally.

I dont like the black shirt, and I think the tie needs to be loosened up.

Loose the tie and unbutton the blazer and you're all set...I'm really interested how it looks with the varvatos though, seems like a good combo. It's almost impossible to make the black shirt + lighter tie combo work, especially if you're a pretty imposing guy like you seem to be, too much of a mob henchman vibe. I like how the darker shades of your jeans, shirt and sportscoat combine for an overall dark but dressed up look

I think it looks OK. I'd probably lose the tie though rather than loosen it. The buttons are backwards... sometimes-always-never for 3B, or sometimes-never for a 2B as my woman says (I got my first real job by buttoning all 3...ha! I still looked like a tool though). The jacket is a good fit.

I agree that it does look a little dark, but it's still acceptable. I don't see a problem with the darker shirt under the lighter jacket... but some in the MC forum might call Borat on you for that.

It looks TOO stuffy, lose the tie or maybe go with a skinny and a more casual shirt and/or blazer (straighter sharper lapels). If you throw a pinstripe blazer into the mix, it can do casual duty as well.

Blazer doesn't fit quite right, needs to be let out from the upper back a bit because it pulls. I also don't like ties with jeans or softer, often stay-less, shirts. Colors are great together, though, IMO.

Ok, the thing about the blazer is that it's a weird design, it's a two roll 3, but without the bottom button, I'm not sure if you can see this from the placement of the buttons. I think it would probably be better just unbuttoned in general.

I'm still experimenting with similar looks and I'll try to post some more stuff tommorow. I have a black varvatos blazer that may work better for this, and yeah, I could probably go with a different shirt, I'll try a few things.
