Does this jacket fit?

I'm curious as to what you guys think. From the side, I like it. However, the chest seemed to bow out a bit, making me feel as if it was a bit small for my chest. It fits my shoulders perfectly.

I have this problem with a lot of size 36 jackets. They fit my shoulders perfectly, but my chest is a tad too big for them (really 38" in chest probably). Then 38 is always too big in the shoulders.

But after putting the jacket pictured on, I thought maybe I could pull off the size 36? What do you think?

Also... perhaps a way to let out chest slightly?

The photos are no help. But based on the photos, I'd say yes, it fits.

not really.. not in the chest area.. the lapels buckle like the chest area is to small for you..and it is a little long.. really cannot tell from the pictures but the shoulder area seems to be ok..

I agree. Based from what I can see, the issue is largely around the chest area being too big or loose, the arms look shirt though.

You guys have me even more confused. Let's tally...

The photos are no help. But based on the photos, I'd say yes, it fits.

Fits - 1, Big - 0, Small - 0

Just a bit wide on the shoulders in my opinion.

It really couldn't have fit better on my shoulders. Take the padding out and seam would fall perfectly. This comment won't count towards the tally.

Fits - 1, Big - 0, Small - 0

So, it seems there is no consensus. I really can't see how the chest is too big? I guess the bowing out makes it look like that, but I think that's a result of the low button stance and not enough room for it to drape down (but instead pushing out). I could be wrong though, that's just how it felt when wearing it.

But I guess my main question is... is this tailorable to fit? Really jackets don't fit me well. None. This is one of better fits I've found. I just wanna see if perhaps with tailoring it could work and then don't need to go MTM.

Oh and in regards to length being long, I suppose slightly, but I think that could be tailored quite easily without throwing off proportions (i.e. I only need an inch or so maybe).

Any other thoughts?

Too long and bellies across the chest. Not really good but if it is what you can afford or like then so be it.

Now that I see it, the chest may be a tad generous.
Looks like Jay 687 needs it. He appears to have
a deep chest and broad shoulders.
That's how I like my jackets to fit because I have a
big chest (and shoulders) and don't like to feel tight
in a garment. Aside from the aestheics, the slim fit
look wouldn't work for me and wouldn't have when I
was younger and a bit rimmer because of my build.
