On the offchance this isn't a troll threak, I'll bite. Lean, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, etc., are specific philosophies and approaches to operations. Operations is one aspect of a firm's business, but not all. Many management consultants are not trained in these approaches, and many people who are trained in these approaches are not consultants. The two are not tied together.

How does this relate to your original question at all?

Six Sigma certification is for ops and it's usually a "nice to have" for most businesses but rarely a requirement. I would imagine that very few management consultants are Six Sigma or lean certified aside from those dealing specifically with supply chain issues all the time.

In general MBAs themselves don't do the real 6-sigma dirty work. They get other people to do it. They might recommend it as part of their final deck/report/ppt they charged you a billion dollars for, however.

Management consulting is advice for a fee. You don't know how to do something, or aren't sure, so you try to find someone who does. You end up hiring the most "well-regarded" one you can afford.

As always, advice has a chance of being wrong, terribly wrong.
