Does J.Crew's method of tie display damage the product?

I went to a J. Crew outlet store today (good deals there, for what it's worth) and I noticed ALL of their ties are hanging pre-knotted

Now, I'm no expert, but my understanding is leaving a tie in a knot for a prolonged period of time (any longer than 2-3 days) damages it, sometimes beyond repair [unless you go to one of those pricey tie repair specialists, I'm sure they can fix it]. I've once destroyed a tie by doing this so I know it's not a myth.

Soooo.... any J. Crew regulars (or employees), are their ties always hung like this? Is the tie still wearable??

Now I know if J.Crew was selling perma-damaged ties, nobody would buy them. Just left scratching my head on this one.

I've never seen that before in a J. Crew Outlet... usually they're just lying folded in trays on shelves.

The ties will survive, fwiw some ties are rigged up for months and come down unharmed when untied.

How could it be damaged if you plan to just re-tie the thing yourself? Odds are, creases will be in the same spot. If you have a much larger neck size, it's all hidden under the collar. Only issue could be if you have a much SMALLER neck size, I suppose.
