I practically refuse to buy something that I may or may not need unless I like the way it looks...

I do, I like a simple elegant clutter free aesthetic and even my apartment is outfitted that way. Just one look at my car and the same image is evoked in the way it was carefully modded. I also find that people I'm close to always expect my pad to be an extension of my personal style. Just last night I had a female guest over and the first thing she commented on was the furniture in the living room and how she knew I would have that classic bohemian style inside. I love art, my dad planned, designed and constructed buildings when I was a kid so I grew up around that environment. Needless to say, I have an affinity for all forms of architecture. 90% of the books I have here are centered around my love for art. Again, last night the lady friend was asking me why I had so many books on Egyptian history and architecture.

I love abstract art and as such I try to incorporate some of it in the decorative elements I have inside the pad. Even the table lamps correlate to this. Furthermore, there's also a hint of psychedelia exuding from the colors and patterns I choose. Again this should come as no surprise considering my insatiable appetite for psychedelic rock n roll music.

Once I get serious about decorating a place of my own, I won't settle for crap
I can't drive a ************* car
My taste for clothing spills into the other parts of my life fully.
I enjoy good design, good lasting construction.

I'd like to think so. But I'm a college student who spends way too much money on clothing and geeky stuff, so I don't really have the funds to buy aesthetically pleasing/minded things as much as I'd like.

But once I'm out of school and have made a fortune of money (which is what the plans for my life hinge on, though where the money will come from I don't know), I will only have the most finely designed appliances and fixtures in what is sure to be a gloriously appointed house/apartment.

Hopefully my future car will also follow suit.

I like this.

Everything I buy, I have to like pure and simple. Thought goes into everything that I have, nothing is by coincidence. Also with regards to food I can appreciate quality ingredients and prep that go even into the simplest dishes.

I'm pretty anal about everything being how I want, even girls.

Reading through this, I'm reminded of the first thing I felt an aesthestic connection to- a 1961 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. I was around the age of 8. By 12 I had a good sense of what music was good and what was crap and by 15 I experienced the difference between east coast and west coast weed which was another turning point as that led me to an appreciation of how much better Tom and Jerry cartoons of the 40's were than anything else (and any movie in black and white). My twenties were spent on food, audio, and art collecting and my thirties on home, auto and now clothing. I feel like I may be "out of new things" to discover but I'm probably just not yet aware of something that I'll be consumed with in the future.

This has posed a problem with buying a lot of kitchen tools since so many places have decided that they are only going to carry two lines of product: good grips and ****. I think almost all of the good grips items look like ****, don't feel comfortable, and take up far too much space...

I like to think I have alright taste, but my apartment is kind of a shame. I'm waiting to buy a place to really upgrade my living accoutrements. Definitely jealous of folks with coherent living spaces, like spertia, iammatt, atomicranch, and the people who posted in the built-in bookcases thread, even though our tastes don't necessarily align.
