Does black linen look grey almost?

When I look at black linen online it looks more grey than black in a lot of pictures. Is this my computer messing with me? I assume it has something to do with how sheer linen is.

Judging by pics is a real crapshoot.

Depending on the dye and the lighting, I find black looking true black, deep blue, dark brown... dark linen does tend to cast a sheen that lightens it some but in the end, black is black.

Not sure why anyone would buy black linen. Linen is for summer, black is for winter (if at all).

You thinking of clubbing on summer nights?

Nope. Never been clubbing, never will go clubbing.

I'm looking for some pants to stay cool in while golfing. I don't want black, but it is hard to find grey linen pants! Black and navy is quite abundant on the other hand. I already have navy though...

What's wrong with beige, light blue, white? You can't find these colours or don't want them?

There is a reason why burkas (and other middle eastern garb) are black.

What about not being intolerant of other people's clothing style? DarK linen trousers can be worn with light colored sport coats or shirts.

Not a fan of white, I like blues and I am searching for a brighter blue right now. (not that hard to find, looking for a good sale)

I'm not necessarily thinking charcoal, mid grey or light grey would be best.

I tend to be pretty conservative when it comes to pants. Charcoal with white windowpane is about as crazy as I get

I like my dark linen trousers , very dark navy and I wear them with plain white shirts...

Black is a great colour in the right environment...

Wow, take it personally why don't you? ...and why are burkas black? I actually thought at first he meant a jacket, but black pants are also less versatile. If you want to wear black linen, wear black linen. I think there are better colours though.

PS. Navy is fine. I like Navy linen sportcoats as well.

Burkas (and other middle eastern clothes) are black because loose black clothing is actually cooler in hot temperatures than light colored clothing.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you about its sartorial viability, mind you, just the widely held, inaccurate notion that white is always cooler.
