Does anyone make a quality wool trouser under $60

So I’m heading to CA for a conference in a week, and I don’t have any free money to spend right now, but I really need a decent pair or two of dress trousers. I’ve lost weight after my pancreatectomy and islet transplant last year, then regained it because I did t realize how much the insulin shots would affect me. And of course I stupidly gave away/sold nearly all my old clothes that were too big as of last August. While I prefer an all-wool, classic fit, with high rise and turn ups, at this point, beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve been all over eBay, Amazon, and outlet store sites but haven’t found anything that really has the style I want under $120.

Any tips would be appreciated

I'd recommend browsing the sale trousers at Spier & Mackay if you haven't already. The selection is hit-or-miss, and some of what's on sale now is cooler-weather weight. But they have 100% merino ranging from $79.99 CAD (just over $60 US) to 99.99 CAD, and I've found their trousers to be quite well-made for the price.

Another option may be the Neiman Marcus branded 100% wool trousers from Lastcall.com. The current prices are $125-130. With the 40%-off promos LC runs from time to time, this comes to $75ish before any tax and shipping. A little more than $60, but still a decent price-to-quality ratio. Plus, they offer expedited shipping.

$60 is tough, especially if you want a classic cut, but here are some options under or around $120.

Howard Yount: Mid-rise, slim leg, and decent quality. Customer service is non-existent, however, so if you encounter any issues, you'll want to take it up with the credit card company.

J. Press: A true classic cut with a high rise and full-ish leg (by today's standards). Some of the models hover around $120, esp if you're ok with cotton, which is cheaper to source than wool. The construction on these will look a bit more appropriate than the standard, rumply chinos you may have seen at the mall. Lines are cleaner, essentially, so they can sometimes pass for office trousers.

J. Crew: Tons of options and often on sale. I find the cut to be a bit too slim and low rise for me, but they have a store in every city at this point. It would be easy to go in and just try things on. The Bowery is their most popular model, but they also have some that are a bit fuller.

Land's End: Supposedly their Tailored Fit trousers are pretty good. I bought some seven or eight years ago and didn't like how they fit (can't remember why), but I've heard good things since from reliable sources. And about $60-80 for wool. Free shipping and returns, I think. I would recommend buying two or three sizes around what you think may be your size, so you can compare how they fit. Try the Year 'Rounder fabric, if you only get one or two pairs.

eHaberdasher: I've heard the fits are all over the place, but the construction seems good, and the prices hover around $120.

Frank's Pants: Again, about $120, and a chino. But these are basically the revived version of Bill's Khakis, which was popular on this board. Construction is cleaner than your standard pair of chinos and could pass for the office in some places. They come in full, medium, and slim fits. I vaguely remember the slim feeling too slim, and the medium too full, but you may feel differently (this was back when it was Bill's Khakis -- I haven't tried this new Franks iteration, but they're made with the same cuts supposedly).

If you want a new, 100% wool pant under $60 you may as well go cheap and get Kirkland. Then get one of the above options later when you have time/money.

I'd second Spier and Mackay but you will need time to get them altered. They have some on sale for under $75 U.S. They also fit TTS so make sure you measure yourself properly.

Thank you all! To save cash and make sure I was ready for my trip I bought a gently used pair of Polo trousers on eBay for $30 from a seller with 100% rating with over 3,000 reviews. When I get cash, I’ll get some from one of the recommended vendors at around the $100 price point.

Since Daffy's closed, 90% of my clothes purchases are on Ebay. In your situation, I would have just done a search for the type of pant (flat front dress for example) and put in a maximum of $60 and gone through the search results.

Actually since I now live in Los Angeles, make that 98%
