I dont know if any of you listen to Pete Tong Radio 1 Essential Mix.... but last weeks essential mix was pretty much the best ever. Some dude called Greg Wilson.

Check it out. Kind of what Larry Levan would sound like if he were alive today.

If I could only take one recording to a desert island, it would be High Contrast on the Essential Mix, 05-04-2003. Just. Bloody. Amazing.

I believe the High Contrast was essential mix of the year... whatever year it came out

I dont usually listen to Drum n Bass, or Trance or even Prog House...

Just regular old "boring" house..... My favorite sets this year were the Justice and the Crookers (2nd half of the set, anyway) and Greg Wilson. The Josh Wink set last week was pretty ok.

The Greg Wilson set is more old school than anything else... but i think it kicks ass

If anything, just for the change of pace. I have listened to it about 5 times this week.

If you go to this website... there are hundreds of archived Essential Mixes you can listen to. See below.

Are you planning on going to see DJ Sneak (Feb 14) or Derrick Carter (Feb 21) at Sullivan Room?

Lol.... I have not seen D.Carter since Centro-Fly. I believe I last saw Sneak in 1998 in Miami (WMC). Both of those guys put on a nice show. That Chicago sound.

I might go. Both of those DJ's are some of the greatest of all time.

The place i really want to go to is Santos Party House... I have not gone there yet.

Aaah the good ol' days of Centro-Fly. I was there all the time during b-school - didn't miss many Subliminal Sessions that year.

I think I went to (mostly) all the Subliminal sessions.... I think that was Thursday nights if i remember correctly. Or was it Tuesday?

Either way.... those were good times.

I used to see all those DJ's buying records at the Flea Markets in Chelsea.. when they still had those 6th ave Flea Markets. I was such a fanboy.

Roger Sanchez was the man... at that point in time. I dont know about anymore, however....

Hell yes... MAW always rule.

I used to go see Lil Louis when he would play at Vinyl. I dont remember if Kenny Dope was there, however.
