Does anyone know how to knot this particular tie shape/pattern from the Godfather?

I suspect you need a tie that’s been cut with a bottle shape that widens quickly at the knot, so that there is enough fabric at/below the tie knot to shape these folds. A normally shaped tie won’t work. May need to be custom made. I’d reach out to Sam Hober to ask.

is it not a double-four-in-hand ?

i'll add that young vito's tie doesn't look like it has interlining it's probably self-lined which I think helps that knot ripple out the way it does

I’m not sure but after looking google images of the four in hand it’s definitely similar. Maybe a skinny tie that gets quickly wider??

double four in hand . prince Albert I think is the other name .

fwiw most ties go from skinny to wider . he's wearing a vest here and is probably just wearing the tie a bit short but it may be wider . ties come in different widths typically the widest part is the reference .

It’s not about tie width at the blade, it’s about the width just below the knot. It’s much wider than typical there. For my standard ties, even in 3.5” widths (at the blade), no way could I get it to fold the way it does here (effectively three “dimples”).

I doubt the tie in question has a typical wool-horsehair-type interlining , it's probably a 7 fold . that would affect the knot and the blade . less dimple more roll .

it probably is wider than 3.5 , the movie takes place ~1920 . standards change .

double four in hand typically will lengthen the knot and widen the blade after the knot . it certainly shortens the tie overall . you could try it if you are curious .
