So there are a couple of Tumi pieces I would like to get to replace some of my current bags, but the mainline stuff never goes on sale. I know you can get it at the Neiman Marcus during private sale, but there stock is limited. Does anyone know how/where to get it discounted?

I've received unsolicited emails from the company itself. All one needs to do is sign up. Also, this Christmas shopping season is shaping up as one of the weakest in many years. Be patient, and things will do your way, most likely.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but need to pick up some luggage tomorrow at likely - ugh - regular price unless there's a sale at the store. I need this for travel next week and discovered my two old travelpros literally started coming apart at the seams.

At - ugh - regular price, which would you choose in a 22" rollaway:

~$600 for Tumi http://intl.tumi.com/alpha/frequent-...dable-carry-on (like OP, I have not found much mainline Tumi at discount)

Or ~$430 for Briggs & Riley http://www.briggs-riley.com/travel/b...bleupright.asp

Anybody looking for a Tumi discount in the Houston ( or perhaps elsewhere ) are might want to contact this guy,, who is selling a gift card on Houston CL.

You would have to work out logistics.

Try Bloomingdales SF the week of Nov 12th. It is the Friend and Family week and you should able to get 20% off on the mainline items.

I've gotten pieces from Tuesday morning as well. It's something that you'll have to wait for. If you need it now, you may have to pay full price.

Nordstrom Rack? I'm not sure if it's mainline but I noticed a number of Tumi bags there.

I have owned both companies products and am amazed at the quality of Brigg & Riley. Most of all they have a 100% no hasel guarantee against anything. My wife and I have returned our bags to the store for repair many times over sevral hundred thousand miles of rough air travel and the B&R people just keep repairing any and all damage done by the airlines. Get it, even if you have to pay full retail.

Is there an discount outlet near you? You can often find heavy discounts at them. I don't know Tumi's ranges at all well, but I know my local outlet is doing an extra 50% of the normal discounted outlet price on at least one collection at the moment. Might be worth googling to find an outlet in the states and giving them a call.

+1 . I used to live near their factory in Moss Beach (south of San Francisco on the coast line) and was lucky enough to purchase directly about 10 years ago.

I still have all of the bags I've purchased - which have seen over 500K miles of air travel. All have done remarkably well except a laptop bag. I've had the handles replaced twice - free of charge.

Last year, I bought the rolling wardrobe for 3-5 day trips where I need to wear suits. It works very well, has a huge capacity, and is more forgiving than the standard suitcase. Although I understand the uprights are terrific as well.

I bought it off ebay at about 60% of the retail price from ebay seller LuggageStar. She'll ship it to you within 2 days if you request it.
