Does anyone here get chinos bespoke?

Did they start out as bespoke pieces that slowly made its way RTW?

After the Spanish American war, US soldiers in the Philippines bought cotton slacks from Chinese merchants. The slacks were originally produced in England, exported to China, and then imported to the Philippines. The GI's either didn't know or didn't care about the slacks country of origin and dubbed them "Chinos", the Spanish word for "China" or "Chinese." Isn't that swell?

Just seems like if I were thinking about getting bespoke chinos, I would just go the whole nine yards and get wool trousers.

Do you think it worth it? How would you allow for shrinkage??

I understand the thought but I now by the right waist/hip and get the leg both shortened and tapered.

It is tough to find good chinos cloths at reasonable prices. I sometimes think that getting chinos bespoke is like getting sneakers bespoke.

Very probably but the one I can buy which fit, the other I can't.

Pretty similar to cotton ducks which any number bespeak. But no, I only do wools or linens. Seems like a good MTM project though.

Cotton drill trousers are made to measure all the time.

I wouldn't be so sure. There was time when officers were given a uniform allowance along with written instructions for the pattern and cloth to be used to take to their tailor to have made up. Places like Gieves & Hawkes used to specialise as military tailors.
