Does anyone have any info on the Filson/Apolis Activism bag?

I mean, the markup was initially justified--you had the philanthropy angle and the exclusivity angle.

Now, though, with a second run? You're just leaving the first-run buyers bitter.

to keep on with the rant - I was so happy with the bag, that my initial reaction was that I'd take more of an interest in following apolis on twitter, reading their blog, and otherwise keeping myself up to date with their upcoming release plans - now I could care less what these ass hats decide to do.

Oh there's another vendor on this board who is a lot more pissed than I am. If he wants to chime in that's up to him.

So you were initially satisfied because you had a great bag but now you're super pissed because the value of the bag changed marginally but it still works great?

no need to be a dick.

If i knew more were on the way, I probably would have saved up and not rushed into this bag - and then after having a couple months to think things through probably ended up buying a less expensive Filson which is the more rational thing to do - seeing as how this bag is an exact copy of an off the rack filson.

In my opinion - this is pretty much bait and switch in that I was told it was limited - that I had to buy now, when in fact that was an outright lie.

We were lead to believe that the run was limited to 200 also with no second third or fourth run kind of **** attached to it. Like I said I don't like funding marketing experiments for anyone but ourselves especially when the item becomes a hit and then we basically get dumped on. What an interesting way to do business.

if anyone of you wants ill send you the 3 aplolis tags off my bag an you can install them on yours seeing as how im no longer going to be a walking billboard for these bastards. Just buy a filson 257 - will probably last longer as the color on my apolis rip off bag is already fading.

Interesting development and while I was looking for one in the first run, now that I see they have a new run coming I'm a little reluctant to purchase in the second run. I'm sure they'll have no problems selling them out. But damn it's already starting to fade and wear out? That's pretty bad... I might just get a normal one.

It probably wasn't a "marketing experiment" and I doubt they went in with the intent that if it was successful they'd do a second identical one. Although I do think that it would have been better for them to have just done one run of that bag and changed up the second run...maybe different color options, style or something.

Yeah. On the one hand this is a company that is based on helping other countries by purchasing their fabrics (ie. Ugandans), so why wouldn't they try to sell as much product as they could? On the other hand, you clearly have some customers that feel duped by the advertised product.

I think everyone who got the first-run philanthropist bag has the right to be pissed

I wonder how much of that $400 price tag was due to its supposed exclusivity..

just read the last couple pages...****, I'd be furious. no doubt half the appeal was the very limited number of these made.
