Does an MFE have a good ROI?

I've been recently contemplating pursuing a master's in financial engineering. The quantitative nature and modeling work interests me a great deal (not to mention it's only one year), but is an MFE in the real world worth it? I hope the financial professionals in this forum can provide some insight on the real life of a quant. Thanks!

As a sidenote, I've been pursuing a CFA right now and will (hopefully) obtain the charter in two more years. If I have a CFA, should I even bother with an MFE? Or should I, instead, pursue an MBA in finance as the ultimate degree?

From my experience from the academic side - people (students as well as employers) treat MFE as the poor man's MBA.
Most of the students I knew that tried to pursue MFE didn't get into the MBA program and tried to "sneak" into the MBA classes and get the same jobs. Most but not all.
Either get a phd in finance or an MBA - everything in the middle will not give you good returns, in my opinion.

Also some people do a MFE to get a quant job.
